INGREDIENTS:
1 kilo Chicken (any part)
6 cloves Garlic (minced)
2 cups Water
1 cup Soy sauce
1 cup Brown Sugar
3 tablespoons Calamansi juice (optional you can also use lemon/lime)
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1:
Thoroughly clean the chicken and set aside.
Step 2:
In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, water, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and create a flavorful marinade.
Step 3:
Arrange the chicken pieces in a pot and pour the marinade mixture over them. Cover the pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Allow it to boil for 20 minutes, which will help the chicken absorb the flavors.
Step 4:
After 20 minutes, open the lid to reduce the sauce. Lower the heat to medium and carefully flip the chicken pieces to ensure even cooking. Continue switching the chicken every 10 minutes to achieve a golden-brown color on all sides. This process will take about 30-40 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
Step 5:
Once the sauce has thickened and almost caramelized, you have the option to add Calamansi juice for a subtle tangy flavor. Let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes, depending on your preference for sauce consistency.
Note: The Calamansi juice is entirely optional; it adds a slightly sour note to the dish. Taste the sauce and adjust the flavor according to your preference. If you want a sweeter dish, add a little more brown sugar. If it's too intense, you can add a bit more water to balance the flavors.
Step 6:
Once the sauce has reached your desired consistency and taste, your Caramelized Chicken is ready to serve. Sprinkle the dish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions for a delightful touch of flavor and texture. Serve this delicious dish with steamed rice or your favorite side dish.
Enjoy!💖
